Recent studies show, that when families are involved in the
education of their children in positive ways, the children maximize on their
untapped potentials and are more regular to school and demonstrate positive
attitude and behavior.
The foundation for good parent teacher relationship is, frequent
and open communication, mutual respect and a clear understanding of what is
best for each individual child.
At Amiown we completely understand the importance of the early
formative years, and the sensitive role of parents along with teachers, wherein
we foster your child's learning through joint efforts of parents, teachers and
the school. When parents and teachers share responsibility for creating a
working relationship, it helps a child blossom and reach his/her full
potential. We at Amiown are trying to achieve the same through our many
initiatives some of which are listed below:
1. Parent orientation: We begin our session
with a parent orientation program where we share in depth Amiown's philosophy
and practices with parents. Parents also spend the rest of the orientation day
with children in their classrooms, so that together they can enjoy the new
learning environment and all that it offers.
2. Amiown News Bulletin: At Amiown we keep our
parents well informed of what's happening and what's about to happen in days to
come through email communication and online forums.
3. Saturday connections: On the first and the
third of each month parents can meet our teachers in person for any concern of
theirs with a prior appointment through email or the almanac.
4. Individual Parent Counseling sessions:
Individual counseling sessions help parents to work through and support their
child's individual learning needs. At times the school identifies the need to
work closely one-on-one with parents and at times parents reach out for more
customized support.
5. Parenting Workshops: Based on the acute
observations of Amiown classrooms, including the child behavior, peer group
interaction, child teacher interaction and findings of ongoing research, our
in-house expert's design and tailor-make different workshops from time to time.
Because we at Amiown believe in not only taking the children along but we also
feel it is our duty to sensitize parents towards their crucial role in the
development of their child. These workshops are generally held on the 1st and
the 3rd Saturdays of the month. By virtue of conducting these workshops we make
sure to empower the parents so that they can make the best of the formative
years and are equipped to handle the challenges of the 21st century parenting.
6. Parent teacher Collaboration days: During a
working session Amiown holds 3 to 4 such sessions for parents to discuss the
progress of the child and assess the overall development.
7. Grandparents, Mama and Papa day: Since
Amiown believes in involving the families, an extension of the same is our
initiative to celebrate Grandparents day, Mama's day and Papa's day.
Grandparents and Moms and Dads come with their children to celebrate
togetherness, where they become a part of the Amiown classrooms and together do
activities along with them, play games and enjoy with their grandchildren and
children and relive their childhood days through the eyes of their little ones.
This initiative also helps in strengthening the bond and attachment between the
children and grandparents or parents.
8. Amiown Open house: It is our constant
Endeavour to make our children's learning visible. Frequent open houses allow
children to revisit their learning along with their parents. Extensive
documentation and display of children's learning makes this possible and
facilitates the sharing done by children with their parents.
9. Parent as Volunteers and Parents as resources:
We welcome parents to volunteer and extend their services and talents to add
value to our concept delivery. In the past we have had dentist parents take a
session on dental hygiene, doctors conduct eye screening camps, artists lend
their creative inputs etc.
10. Graduation day: This is celebrated to mark
the end of the session when our children graduate from Pre-nursery to Nursery
and from Nursery to KG. Parents and teachers join hands once again to ensure
smooth transition of our little ones to new classes and portfolios and
assessment reports are shared and given to the parents.
